No problem Nick, glad to see that it is still useful.

Hope you and the family are doing well!

Have re-run this process using the link you supplied at the top:

http://www.ccs.neu.edu/home/battista/documentation/winbind/index.html

All appears to be OK (at least on Ubuntu 11). It may be that some of the notes are a little incorrect though I couldn't see anything when I ran through the process a few days ago. Thanks for keeping this blog post up - I use it regularly when we ad new Linux machines to the network (happily a more frequent occurrence these days!)

Sorry, I don't. Perhaps I should make a note that these instructions are really old and just about all the software involved has moved on from here.

Hi

Followed this doc and others but constantly get this error when trying to join to the domain:

error_string : 'Invalid configuration and configuration modification was not requested'

Any suggestions?

You have to use the groups, such as create a group in your AD domain and then restrict SVN to only allow access with that @groupname.

Or you can server SVN using Apache2 and get that to do the authentication.

Maybe a bit late.
I have setup a subversion machine which joined our AD.

But how to i limit ssh login to only a certain group of people from the AD?

I joined my subversion machine to the ad and now ending up with a lot of
user home dirs. Beside that the people actually can login via ssh and a domain login.

I only want the subversion admins to be able to login via ssh not the usual users from the AD.

Greets

You can just delete the computer account from AD. That will remove it. You also need to revert the pam changes so that the box doesn't try to use AD.
